An impressive, extra-large vintage East African (Ethiopian/Somali regional style) hand-coiled storage basket with a dramatic conical lid. Woven from natural palm/straw fibers in vibrant red, green, yellow, and black geometric zigzag motifs. Trimmed with authentic natural leather at both the base casing and the top cone tip for added structural reinforcement. Details & Specs Origin/Style: East African / Horn of Africa Tribal Coiled Basketwork. Materials: Natural coiled fibers, dyed natural straw, and genuine leather trim. Motif: Bold multicolor geometric chevron / zigzag pattern. Dimensions: Approx. 20" Total Height x 17" Base Diameter. Condition: Good vintage condition with strong fibers and bright colors. The leather base and top cap are intact. Shows authentic age-related vintage storage scent consistent with natural materials and long-term storage (left untreated to preserve original fibers). Due to long-term storage pressure, the rim and lid are slightly misshapen and do not sit completely flush (can be carefully reshaped with gentle reshaping technique).
